Dallas Hype Insta Meet
On September 10, 2017, the Dallas photography community came together for a day that was equal parts creative expression and collective impact. Dallas Hype, hosted by Luda (@ludatheshooter) in partnership with DTXSTREET (@dtxstreet), set out to create an environment where photographers, models, and artists could connect, collaborate, and showcase their talents.
But in the wake of Hurricane Harvey’s devastation along the Texas coast, the event took on a deeper meaning. Partnering with Calvary Dallas (@calvarydallascc), we turned the gathering into a donation drive, uniting our creative community around a mission to support Houston. If we were bringing people together, we wanted to make sure that moment also gave back to those in need, especially since many of our friends and fellow photographers were directly affected.
The event kicked off at Pegasus Plaza at 4 p.m., where crowds quickly filled the space with both energy and generosity. Many arrived with donations in hand, delivering essentials directly to a Calvary Dallas moving truck stationed on Commerce Street. The collected items were personally delivered to Target Hunger (@targethungerhouston) in Houston the very next day.
Once the donation drive wrapped, the creative takeover of Downtown Dallas began. Smoke bombs, city lights, and an endless stream of cameras set the scene as photographers, models, vloggers, and artists spread through the streets. The energy was undeniable, pure creativity, collaboration, and community at its best.
By the end of the night, Dallas Hype had achieved more than we imagined. Not only did it connect the Dallas creative scene, but it also directly impacted those affected by Hurricane Harvey. We are deeply grateful to Luda, Calvary Dallas, and every supporter who showed up and contributed. High Vis and I never expected our ideas to grow into a platform capable of creating real change, and we are humbled by the loyalty, passion, and generosity of our community.
Thank you for being part of it then and for continuing to help us build something bigger than ourselves today.
